Seminar on Tsunesaburo Makiguchi's Pedagogy Held at a Teacher Training College in Bolivia
On July 31, 2009, a seminar on the educational philosophy of educator and first Soka Gakkai president Tsunesaburo Makiguchi took place at the Juan Misael Saracho Teacher Training College in Tarija, Bolivia. Some 200 faculty members and students from the school attended.
Titled "Practical Application of Humanistic Education for the Development of the Country," the seminar examined Makiguchi's pedagogy, which prioritizes children's happiness and his theory of value creation, which centers on the values of beauty, gain and good.
College President Alberto Pereira said he believes Soka (value-creating) education is an ideal educational philosophy and that he was looking forward now to learning more about the ideas, philosophy and peace activities of Makiguchi's successor, Daisaku Ikeda.
